(SRES) Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation
What does this mean?
With more than 7,900 people expected to turn 60 every day in 2007, the National Association of Realtors Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation was established to better help real estate agents assist this exploding demographic.
The designation identifies those agents trained to distinguish characteristics and trends related to the 55-and-older population: housing, financing and retirement income considerations; outreach methods for capturing this demographic; and counseling strategies to help senior clients plan for life transitions.
Specifically addressed are:
Key differences in housing options.
How Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security affect this demograhic's real estate decisions.
How to protect and recognize scams that target seniors.
Senior homebuyers and sellers often are confronted with myriad choices as they prepare for retirement. A senior's home is viewed as more than purely a financial investment and is often synonymous with the years spent raising a family as well as a reflection of personal ties to a community. SRES designees posses the requisite knowledge, specific training and expert contacts to help seniors during this transitional period in their lives, from relocation to tax and estate planning. By earning the SRES designation, Realtors demonstrate knowledge and expertise to counsel senior clients and are prepared to offer those clients a variety of informed options when making life-changing decisions.
